Waterbury Worker Compensation Benefits—Categories of Disability

When a CT worker is injured or becomes ill on the job, eligibility for benefits applies and may include:

Temporary total disability (TTD). Injured workers who become totally disabled temporarily may receive TTD.  The benefit amount is approximately 75 percent of your net income.  TTD commences when your attending physician states you cannot perform any type of work.  TTD ceases when your physician states you can return to work.

Temporary partial disability (TPD).
TPD applies to an injured worker who has not fully recovered and cannot perform his or her regular work but is performing alternate work for lower pay.  TPD benefits may be paid on a weekly or bi-weekly basis and is approximately 75 percent of the difference between your regular job earnings and your current earnings.  You may receive TPD when your attending physician states you cannot perform your regular work but can perform lesser or lighter work—and payments stop when you can return to your regular job.

Permanent partial disability (PPD). PPD is paid to workers who have permanently lost some body function.  The PPD benefit amount depends on the body part affected and the degree of disability.  The weekly payment is approximately 75 percent of your net wages at the time of injury.  PPD commences when your attending physician states you have a permanent disability.
Wage differential benefits.  Wage differential benefits are paid to workers who have recovered but are unable to resume previous regular work and are performing lighter work for less pay.  Differential benefits are discretionary and may be allowed when permanent partial disability benefits run out.
